Join us at 6:30 pm at the church in unit 101. God promises rest. What does that look like in Jesus?
Session Overview
Session One - The First Day of Rest
What is God’s design for rest and work? We will look at the first Sabbath day and how we have ventured so far from the original purpose of biblical rest. There is an invitation of restoration back to the garden we were made for.
Session Two - Lord of The Sabbath
Is the Sabbath an obligation or an expression of adoration? Over time the Sabbath became a command rather than a way of life and we can see this through the Israelite's 40 year journey in the wilderness. But Jesus has a plan to bring us into the Promise Land for the rest we were made for.
Session Three - Two Sabbaths and The Finished Work In Between
Do we prepare a day of rest for God or has he prepared one for us? Let’s look at the two final Sabbaths of the Old Covenant. That’s right there were two Sabbaths at the burial of The Christ. Jesus had double rest in the grave for a reason. What does this mean for us as New Covenant believers as we join in the Garden of the New Covenant?
Session Four - Return to your Rest
Does silence make you uncomfortable? Does busyness relieve the uncomfortable space that God wants to deal with? Let’s explore why and how God wants to meet us in our pain and bring healing.
Session Five - Experimenting with Rest
Practically speaking, what is refreshing for you? What is refreshing for your family? How do we make space for others to rest the way that God made them? Let’s rethink the Sabbath and how Jesus wants to spend it with us.
Session Six - The Double Portion
The Jubilee is more than the 50th year and a double portion of rest. The Jubilee is the fulness of the Gospel through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The Sabbath is not just a day of rest but it is the manifestation of Christ in you.
